Consumption of solid wood composite flooring in Europe falls 15 to 38 per cent
The Board of Directors of the Federation of European Solid Wood Parquet (FEP) met on 18 October 2023 to discuss, among other things, the situation of solid wood parquet in the European market.
It was mentioned at the meeting that the parquet market in all FEP countries declined in the first quarter of 2023, by between 15 and 38 per cent.
The main reason behind this is the low level of new build and refurbishment activity in the construction sector.
The meeting predicted that improvement is not expected until at least the end of 2024, as construction output is not expected to pick up anytime soon and parquet will be put into use at the final stage of the building process.
