Dieffenbacher acquires Pagnoni Italy and Schmidt & Heinzmann composites business
Dieffenbacher has recently made two important acquisitions aimed at expanding its presence and technological capabilities in the global market.
On 7 October, Dieffenbacher acquired the Italian family-owned company Pagnoni Impianti Srl. Headquartered in Aicurzio, Milan, the company was founded in 1848 and initially focused on the production of products such as oil presses and pasta moulding machines. After the First World War, it turned to the production of hot presses, especially for plywood. The company then evolved into singe/multi-layer hot presses and hot pressing lines for the manufacture of particleboard, plywood, MDF and rigid fibreboard, as well as lines for HPL decorative laminates and melamine short-cycle veneers. ‘Pagnoni fits perfectly with Dieffenbacher's values.’ Lukas Langer, CFO of Dieffenbacher, said, ‘The company has a strong reputation in the industry for its partner-based approach to business and for its technically reliable and well-designed machines and systems. One of Pagnoni's major strengths is its ability to develop and implement customised solutions that are profitable for its customers. With Michele Pagnoni on board, we have also gained a highly skilled and experienced expert.’
In the short term, Dieffenbacher will ensure continued support for Pagnoni's existing customers; in the medium to long term, Dieffenbacher will add Pagnoni's products to its portfolio. In particular, the short-cycle, HPL and plywood plants will be an effective addition to Dieffenbacher's range of services. The expertise of the single- and multi-layer hot press plants for the production of wood-based panels will also be incorporated into its product portfolio, and in the case of speciality hot presses, such as insulating panels for transformers, synergies with the Dieffenbacher Moulding business unit will be developed.
On 1 November, Dieffenbacher acquired the composites business of Bruchsal Schmidt & Heinzmann GmbH & Co. KG in Germany, which had fallen into insolvency due to rising raw material costs and delays in strategic decisions. The company was a global leader in SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) manufacturing technology and was widely recognised internationally for the quality and performance of its products. With the acquisition of the composites business of Schmidt & Heinzmann, Dieffenbacher not only gains access to state-of-the-art technology in this field, but also receives employees and customer resources. The acquisition helps Dieffenbacher to further increase its competitiveness in the composites industry and provides Schmidt & Heinzmann's customers with additional service and support options. Dieffenbacher plans to utilise its international network and resources to expand the market for Schmidt & Heinzmann's products, while maintaining its brand independence and continuing to offer high-quality service and spare parts.
Both acquisitions demonstrate Dieffenbacher's commitment to technological innovation and market expansion, as well as its commitment to sustainability and customer service. By combining the strengths of the two companies, Dieffenbacher expects to achieve even greater breakthroughs and growth in the relevant areas.
