International law enforcement seizes 2,624 cubic yards of tropical hardwoods
Between October 2 and 27, customs and police officers worldwide made more than 2,000 seizures of animals and plants protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
The global operation, known as Operation Thunderbolt, involved police, customs, border control, environment, wildlife and forestry officials from 133 countries working together across borders.
Operation Thunder seized 2,624 cubic meters of timber, equivalent to 440 standard containers, mainly tropical hardwoods.
