Pineapple lattice import prices are volatile
Import prices for Indica (commonly known as pineapple lattice) logs have also shown very marked fluctuations. CIF prices were at their lowest in December last year, at about US$310/m3, and peaked in June at about US$450/m3, an increase of 45 per cent; they fell briefly after June, but then resumed their strong upward trend. cif prices were US$444/m3 in September, an increase of 7 per cent compared with US$415/m3 in August.
For sawn timber, import prices were unusually stable, remaining near $900/m3 for a number of years, but showing a downward trend from July, with the CIF price of Indo-Chinese sawn timber at $839/m3 in September, down 1.2% from $849/m3 in August.
