Russian timber supplies to China rose 6.2 per cent in July
Since July 10, 2022, the Russian timber export market has undergone major changes under the influence of the EU sanctions strategy against Russia.
Timber exports to the European Union are stagnant and the focus has shifted to Asia and the Middle East.
Today, Russian timber exports have changed for a year, and Russian timber exports to China are still growing with the adjustment of export priorities.
Russian timber exports to China continued to rise to 1.2 million cubic meters in July, up 6.2 per cent from a month earlier, according to Whatwood, the Russian statistics agency.
Among them, Russia's Krasnoyarsk region has the largest increase in exports, with an increase of 30 percent to 330000 cubic meters compared with timber exports to China in June this year.
This is also the highest monthly growth rate in the region since October 2022.
Timber suppliers in the Krasnoyarsk region have also seen a significant increase in exports.
Of these, Novoyeniseisky LHK, the largest sawmill (and one of Russia's largest sawmills and wood processors), increased 81 per cent month-on-month.
In other parts of the Novoyenisky LHK, such as the Arhangelsk region, timber exports to China increased by 29% month-on-month. timber companies in the region have also seen a surge in exports, with ULK, a large timber company, rising 68 per cent month-on-month.
