The United States still imports a lot of timber from Russia
After the conflict broke out, the US imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on Russia to "inflict pain" and "deal a heavy blow" to Mr Putin.
But to this day, hundreds of unauthorized Russian shipments continue to flow into U.S. ports, according to reports by Associated Press reporters.
An Associated Press reporter says at least 3,600 more shipments of wood, metal, rubber and other goods arrived at U.S. ports from Russia.
That's a marked drop from the same period in 2021, when about 6,000 shipments arrived, but the average monthly trade volume still exceeds $1 billion.
