Vietnam's wood furniture exports reach $1.3 billion in November, up 11% year-on-year
Vietnam's exports of wood and wooden furniture in November 2023 amounted to US$1.3 billion, up 1.4% compared to October 2023 and 11% compared to November 2022, according to preliminary statistics recently released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs. Of this, the export value of wood furniture amounted to US$880 million, up 0.8% sequentially and 15.7% year-on-year.
For the first 11 months of 2023, exports of both lumber and wood furniture are projected at $12.2 billion, down 17 percent from the same period in 2022. Of this, the export value of wood furniture is estimated at US$8.3 billion, down 19% from the same period in 2022.
In November, Vietnam imported 406,300 cubic meters of wood raw materials, with the value of imports reaching $133 million, an increase of 10% and 10% in both volume and value compared to October 2023. However, compared to November 2022, the import volume decreased by 16% while the import value decreased by 24%.
In the first 11 months of 2023, log imports were estimated at 4,054 million cubic meters valued at $1,376 million, down 27 percent in volume and 35 percent in value compared to the same period in 2022.
In addition, the country's office furniture exports were valued at $23.9 million in November, down 10 percent compared to November 2022.For the first 11 months of 2023, the value of office furniture exports was estimated at $245 million, a decline of 28 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
